Underwater Noise Argumentative Essay Example

Study. Learning. Positive. All these words show how the underwater noise affects us. We learn so much more about the earth's sea, and the noise does not have an effect on marine life. The article “What Underwater Noise?” talks about the noise underwater many good things come from understanding the sea better and how they have tested the sea to see if the noise has an impact on particularly whales and there was no behavioral change. If we did stop the noises then how would we be able to now and understand the sea. We need the sonar because we can learn, and study our world. Underwater noise does not affect marine life in a negative way, the noise is good as we learn more about our earth's sea.

Underwater noises do not affect the whales in a bad way; they don't change their behavior. I can prove this according to the article “What Underwater Noise?” it states that “At first, some of the beaked whales responded cautiously to the noises, but they did not change their overall behavior. Nor did the other types of whales in the study react fearfully.” This is showing that the Navy did a test on the whales to see if it affected them and it did not change the whales behavior, so that means the sonar noise is not negatively impacting the beaked  whales, not even the other types of whales. Also the article “What Underwater Noise?” In the second paragraph it explains “The Navy concluded that even high levels of sonar and other underwater noise did not affect underwater creatures. As a result, the Navy has argued that it should be allowed to continue its sonar activities in the world’s oceans.” This quote explains that with the highest pitch of noise the sonar can go marine life was not affected so this means that the underwater studies should still go on so we can gain more knowledge on the sea. The sonar noise is in the water so most likely that would of been the noise that negatively impacted the whales but it didn’t so how could on land noise hurt the sea creatures? This is not the only reason that underwater noise does not have a negative impact, underwater noise helps us learn more about the sea.

Furthermore underwater noise helps scientists and us discover more about the sea which helps us have more knowledge to stay safe. I know this because in the article “What Underwater Noise?” it says “The Navy uses sonar, a system of using sound waves to detect objects underwater, as a tool to gather information about our oceans and protect the nation.” This means that now we now the sonar and other general noises don’t harm the sea creatures then as the sonar continues it will help our nation so much by protecting us when we wake up and go to bed don’t you want to feel safe without the sonar who is going to protect us from the dangers of the sea? Another thing that the article “What Underwater Noise?” states “If that tool were causing harm to the creatures of the sea, then the Navy would want to know it.” This shows us lots of positives because the Navy did want to know and found out the noise did not affect sea life therefore the sonar project can move forward and save some lives by studying the waters and protecting billions of people. That's not it the noises have positively helped us grow as a nation.

Many people believe that the underwater noises are negatively impacting the whales in many different ways. In the article “What To Do About Underwater Noise” it states “The data suggested that beaked whales were  especially sensitive to even low levels of underwater noise. It interrupted their communications and caused them to change their diving and feeding patterns.” This is not true because as there may be noise the navy did a test to see if the noise impacted the whales negatively and the noises did not change the whale at all. According to the article “What underwater Noise?” “The Navy collaborated with well-known marine scientific organizations to conduct a study, they measured the whales’ reactions. They did not change their overall behavior.” This quote shows us that a scientific organization did the study they said, there was no change in the whales! Also in “What Underwater Noise?” paragraph two says “While everyone will probably sleep better if there is less noise in the world, the soundness of the U.S. Navy study is also comforting. Underwater noise has no negative impact on marine life.” This is explaining that the general noises in everyday life and the sonar do not affect the whale/marine life, but help the world become safer and more educated with the sea. The noises that happen in the water and on the ground will not affect marine life. There have been many people worried about it, but scientists have done their research and found that marine life is not affected by the noise. All those noises help our world know more and grow.

Underwater noise brings many positive effects for our lives and has no harm on marine life. The underwater noise does not change the behavior of the whales as studies show, and the noise is helping keep you and your family safe as the world gains more knowledge on the sea. Can you believe people actually what to get rid of the sonar? As you can see the noise doesn’t affect marine life so let’s continue to have the sonar and everyday noise because we will become smarter with all the noises discovering our world's sea.
