Mrs. G impacted her students in many ways, and she was the best teacher they ever had. Mrs. G's influence began with her attempts to relate to her students to understand them better when playing the line game, her refusing to give up on her students, and her desire to develop a passion for learning. Mrs. G was the only teacher that taught uniquely and believed in her students, even if they didn't appreciate her. That's why in the end, she earned their respect.

To begin with, one of the main ways Mrs. G made an impact was the line game. It helped the students express what has happened to them and their experiences without saying it.  The line game gave the students a sense of community, allowing them not to feel alone. The activity was the first that united the students and let them get to know one another better. Mrs. G became more familiar with her students, happy seeing their progress. In addition, she started to become excited with her students, and the students felt better about themselves overall.

Moreover Mrs. G tried various methods to relate to her students, including music, gangs, and the Holocaust. She also assigned journal entries. Music was one of the first things she tried, and Tupac was the rapper she mentioned, and practically everyone in the class knew who he was. She then asked the class if they understood gangs, and almost everyone responded "yes," as if it was the only option they had; they believed they had to kill everyone else to survive. Mrs. G then asked the students if they knew what the Holocaust was, to which only one person answered "yes." She told the class that if they had to kill everyone to survive, it would be a Holocaust, and they would be living in one. The activity that had a significant effect was her assigning diary entries because they discussed how their lives were going and the experiences they had/are having. These events had a major impact on the students, allowing them to realize that they weren't alone and that there were other options available than gangs.

Mrs. G wasn't the same as the other teachers, and as a result, she experienced opposition from them. Unlike the other teachers, Mrs. G didn't want to give up on the students or leave them. She wanted the kids to be interested in learning; the other teachers didn't care for the students learning or for them at all. Mrs. G didn't want to be like those teachers, she wanted to be different and make a difference in the students' lives, and she achieved her goal. She made a change by getting the students to open up and share their past. In the beginning, the students didn't respect Mrs. G at all. They thought she was the same as the rest of the teachers, but she wasn't, and because of that, she gained their respect. The overall goal for Mrs. G was to encourage the students to care about their learning, going to school, their future, and making a difference in their life, and she obtained her objective that was her impact on the students.

Mrs. G started from scratch to make a change in the lives of her students, but she was successful. She had to deal with fights, backtalk, and in general disrespectfulness, but she was determined not to give up on them. Mrs. G could've been a lawyer, but she wanted to fight for students since they had no one to fight for them. That's why she believes the actual fighting happens in the classroom and not in the courtroom. Mrs. G's goal was to achieve a better understanding of her students, which she fulfilled. She had many goals and acquired all of them. That's why she was able to make a difference in her students' lives. Mrs. G became happy because she was starting to have a better understanding of her students, and she was becoming more confident with them. Finally, Mrs. G wasn't judgmental, racist, and she was compassionate. That's why she impacted her students.
