Admission Essay Example: University of the Bahamas

 “As a nurse we have the opportunity to heal the mind, soul, heart and body of our patients, their families, and ourselves, They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel” by Maya Angelou. After being introduced to the field by my cousin, nursing has sparked my interest. I was astounded by the influence, a pediatric nurse practitioner has on a child’s and family’s lives. I’ve always loved children and wanted to do something with helping them, so after doing some study, I’ve decided to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner. After a long search for colleges, I’ve finally decided to attend the University of the Bahamas. I have a strong feeling that the University of the Bahamas is the ideal school for me. I am confident that the University of the Bahamas will assist me in achieving my ambitions of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner.

My ultimate career goal is to work as a pediatric nurse practitioner.  There are several reasons why I chose this career path. Firstly, I love children. I love being around them and bonding with them, and making children feel better and making their families happy is my greatest passion. I will never be tired or bored of the responsibilities that comes with being a pediatric nurse practitioner. The idea of helping children and bonding with them is what draws me to this job. I adore children, and seeing them sick breaks my heart. I want to help them stay as healthy as possible. I aim to improve children’s lives and offer joy to families, bringing a healthy child home to his or her family would be a huge accomplishment for me.

My cousin, who is a pediatric nurse practitioner, was a role model for me when I was younger. She explained certain nursing concepts to me and even took me to hospitals to demonstrate what she does, which greatly motivated me. Everything about nursing captivated and enthralled me. I made the decision to support sick children like her, I knew from that time that pediatric nursing was something I wanted to do with my life. My mother used to take me to hospitals when I was younger, and I remember seeing the pediatric nurse practitioner’s passion for kids and seeing smiles on their faces really inspired me. Being apart of the healing process of a child’s life will really bring joy to my life. My mother is a single mother, and I share her enthusiasm for children, she adores them. When my sister and I were unwell, I observed how she interacted with us and how much she loved and cares for us, and I thought to myself, “Wow, I want to care for sick children.” I’d love to make her happy. Due to the lack of pediatric nurse practitioners, my sister had to wait even longer in the hospital.

I’ve always found nursing interesting. This year, I’m aiming to enroll in the nursing program at the University of the Bahamas. When I get accepted to the University of the Bahamas, I will pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing in science. Reading and researching pediatric practitioner nursing is one of my favorite things to do, and I find it fascinating. I used to watch pediatric nurse practitioner videos everyday. I want to get a Bachelor’s degree in science in nursing from the University of the Bahamas. I want to extend my career in Canada. In Canada I plan to do a 2-year nurse practitioner program. In Toronto Canada I intend to pursue my career as a pediatric nurse practitioner. After completing my bachelor's degree in science in nursing and my nurse practitioner program, I want to get certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

To briefly paraphrase, I am absolutely thrilled to begin my journey with the University of the Bahamas. This University education will eventually enable me to accomplish my ambitions of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. Earning a degree from your college gives me a stronger opportunity to fulfill my dreams and accomplish my goals of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner in the future. Everything I do at the University of the Bahamas will be a step towards  my dream career as pediatric nurse practitioner. I will bring to the University of the Bahamas my hard work, enthusiasm, creativity and perseverance, and I will never forget why I started my epic journey at the University of the Bahamas.
