Would you like to live in a community where people don’t get to choose their spouses, jobs, furniture, and more? Well if you would want to move here, this is why you shouldn’t move to this community. A small portion of people prefer to live in a broken dystopian society, but it really isn’t a great place to move in, but in my opinion it is a dystopian society without mankind. In these situations Jonas’s community is a terrible place to live in. Mostly because of this, I believe that people should not move into Jonas’s community because it saves people from danger, sameness and things people wouldn’t enjoy in this world like music, and feelings. Even though people prefer to live in a community without music, feelings, or biological family, it is not right. Which means we need to dissuade others from moving into Jonas’s community.

One reason that people should not live in Jonas’s community is because there’s no music. This is what I found in the text that can help prove my opinion. Pg 168 “ For the first time ,he heard something that he knew to be music.” Music is a very important thing that people in Jonas’s community should be aware of, especially the people chosen to be the new receiver. When being chosen to be the new receiver you will experience a whole lot of stress from the amount of memories you will receive .So, if music existed in Jonas’s community it would help the entire community to feel happy and not stressed out because of changes such as when you there's a big change occurring in your life at the moment, but the genre of the music can affect the person the most especially sad and depressing music. This means that if you listen to sad and depressing music people can start to get very emotional,  and start crying about the things that affected them the most throughout their lives, so basically this means music is not always a good thing for society.

Another reason why people should not move into Jonas’s community is because there is no love or feelings. Here is my evidence Pg 122 “ There could be love, “ Jonas whispered.” Another piece of evidence that I found in the text is on Pg 144 “ She’s very efficient at her work, your red-haired friend. “ Feelings are not part of the life she’s learned.” Love can be a complicated thing to do, or to deal with, but it is a very important thing people should all deserve, and should receive. It is a thing that people in Jonas’s community need because in this community the people don’t feel anything amongst themselves or amongst family. Without love the community is more of a dystopian society because love is what makes the people in the community equal, feel less pain, and can lower stress. My last reason why love is an important thing to this community is because, all people in the community don’t necessarily have anything to feel amongst the other people especially with their families, which makes the community a really strange place to be without the things that make life better since their people can’t feel compassionate, comfortable, and loved by anyone.

Jonas’s community is a bad place to live but many people certainly disagree with this statement. People disagree with this statement, and highly recommend living in this community because they provide food, furniture, jobs, spouses, and more. They also think it is a really good place to live with because you don’t deal with discrimination, which makes everyone equal, and not hateful amongst one another. Certainly this is not a good community because there is absolutely nothing to worry about, which can be a good thing, but also bad because it would probably get boring to live in a place where everything would be the same everyday without concerns, or anything to think about, This could be a major concern because a community that controls whether or not you get to choose the way you want to live your life can get out of control, and can lead to major chaos by people stopping to take certain medications to keep the community nice and humble. In this community food, furniture and other goods may not be hard to receive because the community does certain procedures to keep the community in good shape, but they should at least let others try, and work for the things they need in order to survive. I say this because, if people had everything provided for them everyday including having to follow strict regulations for the sake of the community it would give life no point of being a thing. It would give life no point because people come in our world to work for their needs, face major consequences, and struggle more to provide for themselves, and find their desired job, partner, home and more to survive, and without this people would not be able to learn a lesson from life.

Not every community is a bad place to live in, but the one in The Giver is not as perfect as it seems. Jonas’s community is a dangerous, unorganized, and not a good place for people to live out their lives like a normal person because they have all the things provided for them. For example, if you all don’t get to choose your own jobs, spouses, or anything that should be optional there is no point in getting one of those two things because it may have not been what you wanted or felt best with. Also, if the community doesn’t allow you to choose what you're best with there might be chaos where people might stop taking medication for stirrings because they wanted to see what would happen if they hadn’t taken them anymore. We could use these lessons in this essay to make people in our world feel better, and a little more grateful that they get to choose the way they would like to live their lives by being able to choose your own jobs, spouses, furniture, homes, and other opportunities that people in Jonas’s community weren’t able to experience due to the strict regulations they had to follow.
