Block scheduling creates an increase in certain educational problems. But on the other hand, there is good to it like having more time in each class, less homework, and can pick classes that go towards our diplomas. Scheduling is what students are given as of what classes they have for the year.

In block scheduling we have just as many classes as we do in a traditional scheduling. All the classes are separated into a semester. A semester is 18 weeks that allows you to take up to 4-8 classes, depends on the classes we take. So, students will have 4 classes although we don’t have many classes at the same time. This will  give students more time in classes to learn the understanding of things.

With the classes being separated into 9 weeks his would lower the amount of homework we would get. In traditional scheduling, like we had in middle school, there would be 8 classes that would be yearlong, and we always had to carry our books around. So, instead of having 8 assignments to do when we get home, we will only have 4.

There is one more thing to block scheduling. This will allow students to pick classes. As we get higher up in education, like junior and seniors, work release can come in effect. Work release is a new class that allows students to leave school and earn credits to go towards a diploma. Credits are what we earn from each class that goes towards students’ diploma that allows everyone to graduate. In this class we will be given assignments that teach others about how to save money and how to do taxes at the beginning of each year. In a traditional way of scheduling students could not have the opportunity to do this.

Despite of all that has been said there would be some problems with this. Only having a limited number of classes in 9 weeks some will be absent and can get behind and it can also lower the scores of ones ACT or SAT.  while having not as many classes it can also cause someone to lose focus easily.

So, with all of this from a student’s point of view  that block scheduling is better because students and teachers can focus on fewer subjects and explore them in greater depth. It helps teachers and students to become engrossed in the subject matter rather than moving rapidly through material.
