Bandon Dunes Golf Resort Essay Example

Bandon Dunes golf resort is so different, that it makes it amazing. Bandon has an extraordinary owner who dreamed of a place like this. It has six distinct world class golf courses. However,  they are all links style courses; which are nowhere else in the United States. To go with a resort that feels like it is  all about golf. In short, Bandon is a terrific place because of the golf, the resort, and the owner, Mike Keiser.  

Bandon Dunes was created by a Chicago business man named Mike Keiser. Mike was the owner of a greeting card company called RPG. He created the business and ran it out of Chicago, and became very wealthy off of it.  Besides his job, Mike loved golf. However, he didn’t enjoy golf courses  that are on every corner of America, but what he loved was links golf.  He wanted to build a golf course where nature had the template of the holes, and he just had to clear the path. He didn’t want to move dirt and make it man-made. Nevertheless, Mike wanted to build a links course.  Mike wanted Bandon to be abnormal from every other golf course in America,  by building his links design course in Oregon. 

As a result of Bandon’s remote location, it makes the golf courses, and the trip even more unforgettable . Without question, Bandon Dunes is far from normal. Bandon Dunes is in a little coastal town of Bandon, Oregon. Located on the southern coast, and is a five hour drive from Portland, and near three from Eugene. Undeniably, it is hard to get to. All the golf courses are also far from normal. They are all true links courses inspired from the British Isles. In other words, there is nothing else like it in this region of the world. For these reasons, Bandon’s crazy to get to location, makes the golf courses and the experience even more unforgettable. 

Lastly, though it is a “resort”, it is not a typical one. Everything is all about golf. However, there is no spa or swimming pool. Obviously, no 90 degree weather to sit in and tan, because it is the Oregon Coast. Infact, it is all about golf. For example, you golf as much, and as long as you can. The resort has grown significantly, from the one course Mike originally had built. As a result of the first course's success, the resort has grown to now have six golf courses on property. All six ranked in the top 80 in the world. It is a fact that there's nowhere else in the world like Bandon. Nonetheless, Bandon’s abnormal feel makes it one of a kind

Clearly, what makes Bandon so great is the golf, the resort, and Mike Keiser. Nonetheless, Bandon Dunes is still just a plain piece of untouched land on the Oregon Coast, if it wasn’t for Mike Keiser. Not to mention, all six of Bandon’s breathtaking golf courses. Consequently, the unordinary resort that is an amazing way to begin and end a day.​​ Therefore, Bandon being so different, makes it amazing.
