Anne Frank Maturity Analysis Essay Example

Every one of us will grow and develop as individuals throughout the course of our lives. We are able to see Anne develop in a very short period of time. Throughout the play, she matures and goes from being a young girl to a young woman. In the play “The Diary of Anne frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett we are able to see Anne matures into a Woman as the play goes on.

Anne is a major source of conflict for all of the families. On page 871, Anne steals Peter's shoes as a joke. Anne and Peter say, "Have you seen my shoes? Your shoes? You’ve taken them, haven't you? I don't know what you are talking about. You're going to be sorry "(871). In this quotation, Anne antagonizes Peter by snatching his shoes. Anne is attempting to be amusing, but Peter is upset. Anne went out of her way to attempt to provoke a conflict and upset a group member for her amusement. The quote demonstrates her immaturity and lack of regard for the other members of the group. Later in the story, on page 879, showed an example of her being argumentative. “This isn't a quarrel! It's a discussion. And I have never seen children so rude before. I rude! " This shows her starting arguments with the Van Daans.  Anne also edges Ms. Van Daan on with her witty remarks. Anne isn't really interested in resolving the conflict; instead, she wants to irritate Ms. Van Daan, which demonstrates her immaturity. Later, Anne fights Mr. Van Daan. “Mr. Vandan is speaking to you. Am I allowed to talk now? You're the most aggravating... The trouble with you is that you've been spoiled. What you need is a good old-fashioned spanking. `` (881) This highlights that Anne talks back and argues with grown-ups. We also find that Anne is disliked by others in the house. Mr. Van Daan describes her as annoying, implying that she causes problems and may be irritating. All these quotes show why Anne was an immature girl at the beginning of the play.

As the story progresses, she no longer acts like a child but instead like a grown lady. When Anne gets everyone gifts for Hanukkah, it's one of the story's big turning points. "We are all here alive. That is present enough. No, it isn't; I have something.What is it? Presents! " (902) This act demonstrates her ability to be giving and compassionate to others. She was able to set all other disagreements aside in order to bring happiness to the families. At the end of the play, it becomes very evident that she has matured as a person. “And another thing you've changed… from the beginning, I mean. I have?”(938)This demonstrates that she has grown. Peter, who had lived with her for over a year, had seen that she had changed a lot.

She is an immature girl at the start of the play, but as the plot progresses, she matures into a lady. Despite the fact that everyone grows up, Anne Frank matured very quickly in a short span of time because of her situation. Anne Frank was a regular girl who, like everyone else, grew up and matured. Anne Frank no longer had the luxury of remaining a little girl.
