Amelia Earhart Essay Example

In 1897, a little girl with the name Amelia Earhart was born into a world where a woman's career as a pilot would be considered commonplace. However, it was not long before Earhart grew to become not only the first women pilot but the most successful and/or known as well. She grew to be a very inspirational trailblazer because of her unexpected accomplishments that showed her bravery and courage. Moreover, she proved to people that women are just as capable as men are.

Firstly, Amelia Earhart's spectacular accomplishments showed her great desire to become a successful inspiration for aviation. Over the years of her lifetime, she had taken many unexpected adventures in the air. Source 2 states, “She began to set more speed and altitude records for women. In 1932, she became the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean. Her courage was widely admired.” This is important because Earhart's record-breaking achievements left many people very amazed. In other words, it takes good pilot skills and an excessive amount of bravery to fly a plane at very high altitudes. Much less crossing the Atlantic ocean. According to source 1, “Her last mission, when she met her fate, was the most ambitious of all: to fly around the entire world. With only 7,000 miles left to go, she lost radio contact with the Coast Guard and never made it to her next refueling station on Howland Island.” This reveals that even though Earhart may have been very successful she also had times for trial and error. To further explain, before she had passed away she had the urge to fly across the entire world. However, Earhart had got very close to the finish when she unfortunately got lost and was unable to complete her route around the world. It is believed that this had only encouraged people even more.

Secondly, Earhart was very determined to prove to people that women are just as capable as men are. Many would say that she was victorious when it came to proving her argument. In source 2 it states, “Amelia believed her achievement had shown that women are equal to men in jobs which require ‘intelligence, coordination, speed, coolness, and willpower." This explains that Earhart was always doing her best to make it known that men are not able to do any more than women are able to do. In other words, there was no reason for inequality in general, much less for jobs. According to source 3, “Most men heartily believed airplanes and flying were not for the "weaker" sex. But, Amelia was very persistent in her belief that a woman was as capable of handling a plane as a man.” This quote proves that it was very important to Amelia that she was to prove to the world that a woman is capable of quite literally anything males are. To elaborate, she used her aviation skills to show how she could be even better at piloting than men. With Earharts astonishing ability to control aircrafts this was a difficult argument to pick.

In conclusion, Amelia Earhart grew to become a well know, very successful, intelligent trailblazer who inspired many through her special gift of success in aviation. From her record-breaking accomplishments that left people amazed, to her bravery and great motivation. Earhart was on the move to inform the world that women have the same potential as men, and standards should not be lowered just because of the sex of someone. Clearly, to this day Amelia has greatly influenced the world of aviation, as well as bravery and courage.
