Supply is the amount of goods and services that producers or companies are willing to provide at a given price, and demand is how bad people need these goods or services. Weather and the popularity of the item often determines how high the demand and price of the item is. The demand determines the price of the supplies. For an example, when there’s a massive storm like there was recently, and the roads are full of ice, it’s a struggle for trucks to deliver supplies to places that are in need of them. When the weather is poor and people know they won’t be able to leave their home for a while, they buy everything they think they’ll need, leaving almost nothing. This is when there’s a huge demand for products, considering there are so many things we use everyday that are sometimes impossible to find after these storms. It then takes so long for stores to acquire these supplies and get them back on the shelves. Besides, even if the trucks did end up getting the supplies there, most workers are most likely at home as a result of the weather. That’s why we have no choice but to go without the things we need for days at a time. When there’s less of a demand for these products, the price may go back to what it was originally at because there’s not as many people looking for it anymore. The same thing happens when the demand for gas goes up. The price of gasoline is constantly changing anyway, but if people go days without being able to drive to the gas station, the demand will be much higher than usual, causing the prices to go up by a lot. This happens especially when the demand is much higher than the supply.
