George Orwell’s 1984 Novel tells the story of a society that is considered communist by some school districts. In this terrible society, you are always being watched. The time of the story taking place is a cold day in April 1984 at one o'clock (thirteen-hour). As of now, there is no place mentioned but they are at the Victory Mansions. The reason that it is banned by school districts is that it is about communism, but should it be? Does it limit freedom of speech to keep the story from becoming a reality? People are trying to overthrow the government as they yell done with big brother, a very hectic time for the country. This could be relevant in real life if people are not careful about their government it can become a reality. “War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength”. As this society interprets the war as good, it is good to own slaves, and stupid people are easily controllable. I feel that this book should not be banned. This is because it tells the story of what could happen in society if we are not careful of whom we put in charge, but should not be taught until ninth to twelfth grade. After all, it's a hard story to understand as written.

In recent history books are only banned because others think that they are not appropriate for their children to read. Even though some of the books are important facts about what used to happen in history. Winston is a character in the novel who is worried to open the door fearing that the Police have come to arrest him for writing in the diary down with big brother. A sound later controlling everyone’s day from the telescreen as a woman on the tv shows up to him wakes him up. In the future, the anticipation in life, George Orwell issues a warning message in the world and hopes everyone in the world will not take it lightly. 1984 is a perfect model of a socially negative appearance. Not only issuing a warning of what can become the future, but it is also a permanent reminder of all related things we should protect for our freedoms when there is still existence. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a government always watching you through cameras everywhere with no freedom to express yourself. As soon as you do something wrong you disappear forever. In this society making new documents that fit big brother's agenda better and destroying the obsolete documents.

As they update Big Brother’s orders and Party records so that they match new orders given to the people. So people keep believing that Big Brother can never be wrong. Believing they live the best life possible. They vaporize disloyal members of the party then change documents so people believe they were never a part of the party. Substituting a different person in the record to replace the disloyal. Come read this book to save your country and have the knowledge of what could happen to you if we are not careful. Brainwashing people to their advantage and to control all lives,  “who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls and past”, you should see if you picked the right people to make a difference in your world.

As we read this novel we realized that the author’s intention for this book was to warn the readers of the dangers of totalitarian government where they control everything in your life. For example, in this novel, there is Psychological Manipulation. This is by the party in control blasting in your face all the time with propaganda from the telescreens in all rooms. Also monitoring the behavior everywhere they go reminding you especially by the signs reading “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.” In the Physical Control they in addition to the Manipulation. They also monitor Facial expressions. If you make the wrong face at the wrong time it can end up with you being arrested.

While their nervous systems feel the pain of strenuous exercise every morning on the telescreens. After these exercises, they go work a long exhausting day, in an already state of exhaustion. If you deny their orders or disobey them you are sent to be “re-educated” using brutal torture. This is how they force you to believe everything they teach and say is true like 2 + 2 = 5. The government controls every source of information, managing and rewriting the content of all newspapers and histories for its benefit. Not allowing people to keep records of their past like photographs or documents. As the hidden microphones across the city monitor its members all the time.

How does the book reflect the time of this novel? This is by the novel being written after a terrible time in history World  War II in 1949. This was by the people in the decade who were so conviés after Hitler using media like this book to gain power that World War III was not avoidable. Orwell watched the Soviet Union allow all people to work, salary, and own the same assets as everyone around them to be equal and fair or as they say in their slogan “Workers of the world, unite”. Orwell changed his opinion after seeing widespread famines, forced labor, internal power struggles, and political repression. While the world was fighting for the Spanish Civil War in 1936-1939. The purges in Russia with over 700,000 deaths and police surveillance, to watch over the people in the prisons and labor camps controlling their days and what and when you could do anything. This is why Orwell wrote this novel to warn about what can happen to our world if we are not careful about who gets in power and safety around other countries.

All in all, due to the hardness of this novel's writing I feel that it should be taught in high school or college. This is by the story being given off of real-world history and concerns. I do not think that this book should be banned because history repeats itself when others don’t know about it. Like if you think about where it is banned the most or even censored, for example, China. A country where people still disappear and have re-education camps is so Orwell can say a warning that it can become worse if we are not careful.
