Jelana Noura Hadid, also known as Gigi Hadid, is one of Americas top teir fashion models. Hadid comes from a whole family of supermodels. Her brother, Anwar, is signed to IGM Worldwide, while her and her sister, Bella, are signed to IGM models.  Her career first started when she was two years old after she was scouted by Paul Marciano of Guess. She started modeling for baby guess before stopping to concentrate on school, then returning in 2011. Since then, she has made her New York Fashion Week debut in February, 2014, walking for Desigual; and years later, becoming one of the highest paid model in America.

Jelena Noura Hadid, later known as Gigi Hadid, was born on April 23, 1995, in Los Angeles California. Her mom, Yolanda Hadid, is a Dutch-American television personality and former model. Her father, Mohamed Hadid, is a real estate developer. Hadid has two supermodel siblings, Bella and Anwar Hadid, and two half-sisters, Alana and Marielle Hadid. Hadid and her siblings grew up rich, living in an $85 million dollar mansion that their father built. Their father, an extremely wealthy real estate developer, was able to pay for an extremely lavish childhood. Hadid grew up in a nice neighborhood in Santa Barbara before moving to Beverly Hills. She went to Malibu High School and lived in a stable environment. Hadid played as captain of the Varsity volleyball team and was also an equestrian. She was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease, which is described as a chronic disease in which “you have an underactive thyroid.” Her experience with Hashimotos disease goes back years before she moved to New York to model. Gigi Hadid got accepted into The New School to study criminal psychology, which is why she moved to New York in the first place. Soon after, she suspended her studies to focus on her modeling career.

Yolanda Hadid put her daughter, Gigi, into modeling when she was discovered at only two years old, and scouted to work for Baby Guess. After signing to IGM models in 2013, Gigi Hadid made her modeling debut for New York Fashion Week in 2014. In the same month, she was put on many magazine covers, including Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, and Galore Magazine. On July 15, 2014, she starred alongside actor and model Patrick Schwarzenegger in fashion designer Tom Fords Eyewear’s autumn/winter campaign. Hadid appeared in the 2015 Pirelli Calander, and in the same year became the brand ambassador for the Australian fashion swimwear label Seafolly. In January 2015, she was named the Daily Front Rows Model of the year, and a Maybelline brand ambassador. In 4 years, she has made 35 appearances on international Vogue magazine covers. She also got to work with many famous models and fashion designers, as her current designer is Ken Fulk. Gigi has made several appearances alongside her younger sister Bella, and in December 2015, she made her first appearance at the Victorias Secret Fashion Show. In 2016 she walked for many brands, as her career was growing. These brands include Versace, Chanel, Elie Saab, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Fenty x Puma, Isabal Marant, and Giambattista Valli. In January 2016, she became the global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger, this included campaigns for underwear, apparel, and fragrances. Undoubtedly, she has millions of fans worldwide as paparazzi follow her everywhere she goes.

Gigi Hadid has won many awards while working as a model. She won Model of the year in 2015, Best Look and International Model of the year in 2016, Best Design Debut in 2017, and Choice Model in 2018. Hadid takes part in a lot of charity work. She took part in MasterChef and raised $25,000 for the Global Lyme Alliance. Since then she began protesting against the Muslim ban that was approved under Trump’s administration and worked closely with Unicef to help children around the world. Hadid has shown support for the Black Lives Matter movement, as she protested and donated money to many organizations. Those organizations include the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, NAACP, the ACLU, and Campaign Zero. Gigi Hadid has walked for many brands, been in many commercials, and been on the cover of countless different magazines. She has walked for designer brands such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Michael Kors, Jean Paul Gaultier, Fenty, Max Mara, and Versace, and in the same month appeared in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video. She starred in an interactive campaign including a commercial for the BMW M2. Hadid has appeared in many films. She appeared as a host of the American Music Awards and the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards. She also appeared as herself in many films, such as Scooby-Doo, Beat Bobby Flay, and Oceans 8. Unfortunately, Gigi Hadid has suffered several legal issues. This first started when she tried to travel to Shanghai to participate in the 2017 Victorias Secret Show, but ultimately could not because her China visa was revoked after an online video spread of her doing slant-eye gestures in intimidation of Buddha. She was criticized by Chinese internet users. Victoria’s secret declined to comment on the situation when asked questions about the situation.  

Currently, it does not seem like Hadid has any plans for her modeling future. Gigi recently gave birth to her first baby with Zayn Malik in September. They named their baby girl Khai Hadid Malik, and she is currently 1 year old. They quote, “Proud to call her mine.” Hadid plans for a ‘civil’ future with Zayn Malik for her daughter’s sake, even though they have broken up many times before.
