The History and Purpose of Hieroglyphics

Have you wondered what life and also stories was like in Egypt?

Well look no further! Hieroglyphics! In this article you will know three things about Hieroglyphics. The 3 things that I am going to talk about are the Rosetta Stone, time period of the hieroglyphic, and areas that they put hieroglyphic. Hieroglyphics were essential to understanding ancient Egyptian culture and traditions.

My First topic is the Rosetta Stone. The major point for the Rosetta Stone was because The Rosetta Stone was the only way to decipher Hieroglyphics. Without the Rosetta Stone we wouldn't be able to decipher Hieroglyphics. Also the Rosetta Stone contained 3 languages: Hieroglyphic, Demotic and Greek. And if the Rosetta Stone never had Geek, we wouldn't be able to decipher demotic hieroglyphics because we understand Greek. Finally, The Rosetta  Stone was found in August 1799 by Pierre-Francois Buchard. An archaeologist who found out the importance of Ancient Egyptian writing to be understood for the first time in centuries. In conclusion, The Rosetta Stone was the most important thing we ever found about hieroglyphics.

My next topic is the time period for hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics was developed around 3,000 BCE. Since hieroglyphics was created in 3,000 BCE, then hieroglyphics are generally considered the earliest true writing systems. Also, Hieroglyphics ended in 30 BC. When the Romans invaded Egypt, hieroglyphics began to decline. Finally, hieroglyphics were found in 1799. By accident the members of Napoleon's expedition to Egypt in 1799 found the Rosetta stone. In conclusion hieroglyphics had a long time to grow. 

My final topic is where Egyptians put hieroglyphics. One place they put Hieroglyphics in tombs, especially tombs of the Egyptian kings and queens. Egyptians believed hieroglyphics had magical powers. Hieroglyphics were also found on architecture. The Egyptians put hieroglyphics on the walls to tell important stories. 

Lastly Egyptians put hieroglyphics on art. Why the Egyptians put hieroglyphics on art is because Egyptian monuments were decorated according to strict conventions of symmetry. In conclusion, hieroglyphics were used for many things.

In summary, the three things you should remember are that without the Rosetta Stone we wouldn't be able to decipher Hieroglyphics, Hieroglyphics were found in 1799, and finally hieroglyphics were used for many important things. What will you discover next time you look at hieroglyphics? What new discoveries about hieroglyphics can you find that might help our understanding of Egyptians? All in all, hieroglyphics tell you many important things of the past.
