In the novel Lord of the Flies the theme man’s inheritance evil is often shown on this island, including jack and his tribe killing piggy, the murder of simon, and jacks tribe attempting to kill and smoke out Ralph at the end of the novel.

One  of the main examples of how these little boys inherit evil is when Jack instructs Roger to kill Piggy with a boulder. “Jack then instructs his savages to heaven massive boulders into the thicket in hopes of killing Ralph or piggy and flushing him from the thick brush.” (Golding 196). This quote is showing how these boys went from a whole tribe in the beginning to Jack and his tribe wanting to kill the others to show dominance. It just shows how Jack is a savage and how he wants to survive on this island and go from a good person to inheriting evil and ordering people to kill Piggy or Ralph. There was also a foreshadowing on this killing Piggy and Ralph were talking and piggy said to Ralph “if you stand out of the way he will kill the next person and that’s me”(Golding 93). This shows that the other group is finding that jack is a savage even though piggy knows that jack will kill him if he gets the chance, jack went from the leaders of the kids with Ralph and piggy to wanting to kill them in a snap of a finger. Also during all this when piggy died Ralph was sad “piggy fell 40 ft and his body was everywhere Ralph whimpered” golding 190). Honestly through this it made Ralph really think  what this had become, his friend was killed and he was going to be next and the people killing king him were all working together and they just turned under jack and became savages.

Not only do the boys kill Piggy but they also end up killing Simon, and I feel like they knew they were killing him even though the boys say he was the beast. “Shouting that he is the beast, the boys descend upon Simon and start to tear him apart with their bare hands and teeth”.( Golding 154 ). This just shows the savagery and how the boys inherit evil,  even though they thought he was the beast or at least they thought, when Ralph found out he continued to stab him showing that Ralph’s mind was so messed up and he was a savage. And even after he killed Simon Ralph became even more of a savage “Ralph laughed sharply  Ralp stop said piggy that was simon” golding (156). The fact that Ralph laughed at killing his own friend was not like him in the beginning of the book, the only person that was not evil was piggy. On page 152 Simon made his way back to the boys saying “kill the beast, spill his blood and do him in” (golding 152). The only thing was Simon just talked to the beast and found out that all of this was controlled by himself and that the beast is your own body. They did not even give him a chance, not even seeing at all if he was the real beast; they just killed him and Simon was the only one that could stop this savagery.

Finally the last way these boys turned savage is them trying to kill Ralph at the end of the book and after all of this the chief asks who the leader if this island was and jack does not raise his hand. “Jack then instructs his tribe of savages to set the thicket on fire and smoke Ralph out of his hiding spot. Ralph realizes that he cannot remain inside the smoke-filled thicket and Jack successfully drives Ralph out into the open”. Golding (222). Jack and his group have turned completely savage and are trying to be the only survivors on this island showing how he had to attempt to kill Ralph the one that was with him in the beginning, not only did Jack turn  Savage but he turned some of the littluns savage with him. At the end of the book the chief was talking tío the kids “how many dead said chief, only two Ralph said” (golding202). The chief was joking at first with asking how many kids had died but when Ralph responded with two you could tell the chief was caught off guard not expecting for there to be any actually dead. This not only surprised the chief but was also hard for them to say while thinking about what had happened on that island and how they turned on each other. Os surprisingly when the chief was asking questions he asked who was the boss “i am the boss said ralph” (golding 201) i think that this was different because jack had killed all these kids to be the leader and been such a savage but when a grown up comes he does not want to take the blame acting like a good kid even though he was a savage under his skin.

In conclusion all the boys showed man inherits evil in this novel by jack and his group killing piggy, all the boys killing simon, and jack attempting to kill ralph and then acting good when the chief comes to the island.
