American Revolution vs. Animal Farm Essay Sample

Well, known author George Orwell, an english novelist, essayist, journalist, and critic wrote Animal Farm, a book about a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. because he wanted to tell the true story of the Russian Revolution in a way anyone could understand, even if they didn't know all the historical details we see some similarities to the american revolution parallel to the events in the book. The caused somewhat of a disagreement that started the war between the animals and their farmer, Mr. Jones. This leads me to believe that  George Orwell's Animal Farm is almost exactly like the American Revolution The American Revolution being mainly caused by colonial opposition to British attempts to impose greater control over the colonies and to make them repay the king for its defense of them during the French and Indian War.

His work consisted of social criticism, total opposition to totalitarianism, and outspoken support of democratic socialism in a lot of his essays, journal entries, and novels he had written. As to why I believe that the American Revolution in all similarities can be compared to Animal farm.

Moreover, as As the animals began to realize how they were being treated was wrong; They decided to take action by fighting back against Mr. Jones and the other farmers as a parallel to how the colonists acted towards King George the 3rd, as this quote from the book states “Meanwhile the animals had chased Jones and his men out onto the road and slammed the five-barred gate behind them. And so, almost before they knew what was happening, the Rebellion had been successfully carried through: Jones was expelled, and the Manor Farm was theirs.” Orwell shows a parallel of how the colonists were able to run the british soldiers out of Yorktown where the british soldiers were forced to surrender. Therefore " The animals on the farm come to realize that they are being used for their labor by their human farmer, so the animals rise up in revolt and chase the human farmer from the property. This is to what the American Revolution was similar to, which took place in 1776.

The rebellion comes when Mr. Jones forgets to feed the animals and a fed-up cow pushes her way into the store-shed to look for food, which relates to how King George the 3rd had taxed the people of Britain consistently, to which the colonists and the people of britain got tired off and decided to take a stand and started burning effigies, dumping tea into the harbor and rebelling against soldiers . Napoleon, as described in the book, had used his dogs to keep the animals working, like the continental army was used to coordinate the military of the 13 colonies, Napoleon’s dogs were also a fear factor of keeping order to Animal farm due to the dogs being able to kill any animal with a simple command as the people of britain would’ve been killed by a british soldier if one were to revolt against. While revolutions had gone on, Foxwood and Pinchfield had acted like the American Revolution’s, France and Spain due to Napoleon using the 2 nearby farms as alibis, supporters, and trading partners throughout the Animal’s revolution.

Accordingly The battle of Lexington and concord are parallel to the battle of the Cowshed, both battles are open conflicts of each other's revolution. The American congress is equal to the committee of pigs, In the Book, Napoleon creates the committee of the pigs to run and maintain the animal farm while the other animals work. The American congress, which first met in 1774, however, was a meeting of representatives from the 13 colonies who would control things such as taxes and the military of the colonies.

The animals in Animal Farm are the American citizens when revolting against their owners whilst the humans in Animal farm represent the British Empire trying to reclaim what was once theirs. The parallels that take place between the book and the real revolution show that the political views between the people in society today and the people in the book have almost the same viewpoints within how they see things. I believe that George Orwell wrote Animal Farm almost as a warning to show that politics and idealism don’t play in favor of all.
